5 EPs in 5 years were more than enough, so here's the debut album "Perch Patchwork" by Chicago folk-rock band Maps And Atlases, out on Barsuk Records today.
The album grabs you from the start: it's in the lush production, with the percussion all over the songs, the toys- instruments, horns, strings: the band had fun in the studio, for sure. It's not only fun, though, as with many bands these last couple of years: they also have the songs to show. True songcrafter's songs. For the fans of their EPs, this album might sound simple. More indie.
But "Perch Patchwork" is a complete album, well thought of and with a clear, good reason running through it: an album you want to go back to. Time will only do good to this album.
