My beloved Hot Chip are back with their 4th album, "One Life Stand", out this Monday on Astralwerks. After the gold certification their last "Made In The Dark" received in the UK charts, this album is a significant release for EMI, which is great for real music lovers: good music should get as much push as it deserves, even from the majors.
The De Cirico reminiscent artwork is very fitting with the sound of the album: I'd call it dance music for a thinking man in the void of now. Basically, Hot Chip have made songs and accompanied them with slowed down dance music with lots of 90s elements, finishing everything off with their signature stardusted sorrow. You can't escape the feeling of a direction towards a rock band, but in a good way, let's say a Bryan Ferry way. The album is good (once again) and the songs will offer us many moments of joy, in years to come.
