The Soft Pack are the Muslims, after they changed their name, because of people's stupid and racist stand against just a word. The band are about to release their self -titled debut this Tuesday (February 2nd), on Kemado Records (home of Marissa Nadler) for the US and on Heavenly for the UK. It is one of the most anticipated of early 2010, due to some impressive singles and support slots with the likes of Franz Ferdinand, The Breeders and Bloc Party.
The sound is old school indie rock, the kind we learned as college rock back in the 90s: the attitude is exactly that, the production is pointing there (producer Eli Janney was the bassist of Girls Against Boys, one of my favourite bands of the decade), the lyrics are right up that alley too. Maybe it's my never wearing out the 90s, but Soft Pack have got my attention.
