Giles Smith - Lost In Music

Why does it have to be so loud? Because when it's loud, the bass pumps through and the drums kick up and the guitars come skidding across the room and the whole thing hits you in the chest. Because when it's loud, you can't hear anything else, particularly the people who would ask you why it has to be so loud.

Picador edition 1995, page 40
