Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band was formed in the early 1960s but did not gain any momentum until 1967. The group had a mild reception from the general public until they scored a highly successful hit called "Do Your Thing" in January 1969. Their major hit, "Express Yourself" in 1971. By late 1972, Charles Wright went solo and recorded songs until 1974.
