The Twilight Singers - Dynamite Steps

Rock (and roll) is all about picking up chicks and having the story to tell afterwards, over a few bears, in a bar that plays the same music for 20 years. It's like that. Always was and always will be (if rock can go on, which is doubtful, but that's another post, right?). In this light, Greg Dulli is iconic, no doubt about that. It's his voice that is made to tell stories, it's his stories that are made to be sung in rock venues and played in bars and so forth. It's him throwing lines like "It's never too late to try to sleep with strangers" and poor girls all over the world believing that there is some truth in there, or in the road, or somewhere really. This is the world we live in, and chicks love this stuff. So, guys, every single Greg Dulli LP should be your gospel, and you might "Get Lucky" as the man says.
After decades in the game, Greg is still in great shape: his lyrics, his sound and his persona remain anthemic, they are what they are and you cannot just ignore them. His new album with the Twilight Singers is called "Dynamite Steps" and it is, as you'd expect, stories about love, guns, regret and so forth. Very nice in my book. And in the book of most (rock) chicks, for that matter. Mark Lanegan, Ani DiFranco, Joseph Arthur, Petra Haden, Carina Round and Nick McCave (of The Verve) guest.

Dynamite Steps is coming out this February 25th on Sub Pop
