You have been informed that Feadz will do his thing in Athens, with The Swiss, this October 27th @ Bios. So, some words from the man himself.
I've been waiting 10 years to ask this: "Analog Worms Attack" was such a big album. Tell me all the stories about you and Mr.Oizo doing your thing back in 1999.
YES, BACK THEN ME AND OIZO HAD THIS THING AGAINST "COMMERCIAL MUSIC". NOW IT'S DIFFERENT, YOU CAN FIND THE REALEST MC ON THE MOST POPPY RADIO FRIENDLY INSTRUMENTAL. AT THAT TIME WE WOULD LISTEN TO STRANGE STUFF, LOCK OURSELVES IN HIS STUDIO, SMOKING A LOT AND COME UP WITH THE HARDEST THING WE COULD - I'M VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS LP AND IT WAS MY REAL INTRODUCTION IN THE GAME.
On Uffie's album, you and Oizo made some tracks together. How does it feel to work with a friend for so many years? Has the process of making a track changed?
SINCE "ANALOG WORMS ATTACK" ME AND OIZO NEVER GOT IN A STUDIO TOGETHER. NOW THAT WE CAN DO ALMOST EVERYTHING ON OUR OWN WITH THE COMPUTER, IT WAS MORE LIKE SENDING FILES AND COMPLETING THE WORK OF THE OTHER, OIZO MADE MANY TRACKS WITH UFFIE BUT HE NEVER HAD TO BE IN A STUDIO WITH HER, I WAS GIVING HIM THE VOICE OR CHOOSING HIS BEATS AT HIS HOUSE TO MAKE THE TRACK.
"You will down this bitch". Who came up with this line, you or Spank Rock?
I THINK HE SAYS "YOU'RE A DOWN ASS BITCH... AND YOU AIN'T REALLY DRESSED FOR THIS " HE DID.
How did the "Top Billin" sample come about in "Pop The Glock"?
THE RAWNESS OF TOP BILLIN MAKES IT ONE OF THE BEST RAP TRACKS FOR ME -
POP THE GLOCK WAS AN HOMMAGE TO THIS TRACK, (AS THEY WERE ALREADY SO MANY, WE ARE NOT THE FIRST)
NOT A SAMPLE, NOT A COVER, JUST AN HOMMAGE I THINK.
Are you ever going to release an LP? Or do you prefer the EP format?
I WOULD LIKE TO DO AN LP, BUT I'M NOT IN A RUSH. I LOVE TO DO MUSIC, BUT TO KEEP YOUR TRACKS FOR LONG, MAKE THEM FIT IN A CD, TAKING CARE OF NOT USING SAMPLES, IT BECOMES A WORK -
I'M RELEASING NEXT MONTH AN 8 TRACK EP : T.U.F.F ep, I WILL MAKE A PART 2 OF IT NEXT YEAR AND IF IT'S WORTH IT I MIGHT MAKE A CD WITH MY BEST TRACKS AND CALL IT AN LP.
I LOVE EP. AS SOON AS YOU GOT 1 DJ FRIENDLY TRACK YOU CAN PUT WHATEVER YOU WANT ON IT, IT'S A DJ FORMAT, IT'S FREE.
The Happy Meal artwork was awesome. Any plans for future artwork?
I'M WAITING FOR THE NEXT ONE FROM SO ME, LET'S HOPE HE WILL OVERTAKE HIMSELF.
You are always on a flight, right? Do you do any work abroad or do you have to be back in France to produce?
NO I ONLY WORK AT MY HOUSE, ON A BIG COMPUTER, UNFORTUNATLY I CAN'T GET WORK DONE WHEN I'M TRAVELLING. USUALLY I REST MY EARS FROM THE PARTY THOUGH.
Your productions sound different. Do you use different software (or other machinery) or do you work with the same equipment for all your tracks?
I USE LOGIC AUDIO, AND SOME ANALOG DRUM MACHINES AND SYNTHS.
You've worked with a lot of people (Justice, Spank Rock, etc). Anybody else you really want to work with?
I RECENTLY WORKED WITH BOYSNOIZE ON A TRACK FROM MY NEW EP, AND THE GUY IS SO NICE I'M SURE WE WILL DO SOME MORE STUFF TOGETHER. BESIDES THAT I DON'T KNOW, ONLY WITH FRIENDS I GUESS.
You've been on BPitch Control for a few years and some more years on Ed Banger. What are the similarities and differences of being an artist on these 2 acclaimed labels?
IT'S DIFFERENT, BPITCH IS TECHNO, REAL TECHNO PEOPLE WHO KNOWS AND RESPECT TECHNO -
ED BANGER IS MORE FREE, MORE OPEN MINDED BUT ON THE OTHER WAY IT SEEMS MORE ABOUT MUSIC THAN JUST SOUND AND TRACK TOOLS.
What do you remember from your show in Athens last year?
ALWAYS HAD A VERY GOOD TIME OUT THERE, I REMEMEBER EVERYTIME I CAME, AND I'M LOOKING FORWATD TO COME BACK. SEE YOU SOON.
Some tunes we will hear from you in Athens.
I DON'T KNOW MAN, ALL ABOUT THE FEELING AND THE ENERGY ,,
