I got hooked on Ratatat the moment I listened to their ingeniously (as all their albums) self-named first album, back in 2004. To be more precise, it was earlier, as I got to listen to their stuff in pre-release white labeled cdr-s, in Virgin Greece. Love at first sight, I tell ya.
Nobody cared in Greece about them at the time, but that doesn't say much. Nobody would write a single word or play their music on radio. I liked the "Classics" album, but not so much the "LP3". Then, one day, my buddy tells me all about this great band, Ratatat and their song "Wildcat". So, they finally got some listeners in Greece, I guess.
Listening to the new album "LP4" (out this June 8th on XL recordings) gives me the same feeling as all their albums: the band just keeps on building sounds around the same, very distinctive synthesizer + guitar sound and rhythm since day one. They add elements like the dtumming on "Bob Ghandi", but it basically is the same idea/vibe/notion all around. Not new, but not bad at all. If you get into Raratat with this album, you'll be in for a treat.

Saw their live last year in Terminal 5 in NYC together with Kid Cudi, the best show (of Brooklyn hipster type of bands) I 've been so far.
One of the few concerts I 've been and the crowd (including myself) was soo excited with new, never listened before songs (Grape Juice City from LP4 was the peak of the show accompanied by a kick ass video which made it to their new album cover). Amazing duo and very elegant and very well taken care show.
