Melvins have rocked my world since forever, so it takes a while to accept that their new album "The Bride Screamed Murder" (out on Ipecac this June 1st) is so fucking fresh. These guys have been around for 30 years, everybody says "grunge" and means "Melvins" and basically, you'd expect that they just would deliver. And deliver they do, but not in the way you expect (you got the vice versa of the words, right?)
The album is great, just great. It has songs that vary from Beach Boys (!) to grunge almighty and inbetween, there are pianos, mouth-sounds and other ideas that bring to mind sth called free-of-genres-music. You don't expect the sound of the album and you can't stop thinking about it afterwards. I mean, wtf? If guys that are around their 50-year-mark deliver such an album, what should young bands deliver?
Buy now, think later.
