Groove Armada are studio wizards. They set their mind on a genre and they deliver an album. They get it just about right, which is good enough for me. No revolution will come from GA, but that's not their goal anyway. Same goes for new album "Black Light" (out on Cooking Vinyl), in an 80s way. The sound is synth-pop, the vibe is 80s, it guests Bryan Ferry, the echo effects are there. I bet Brett Easton Ellis could write a book by listening to it, if it was released back in the day.
Will Young and Nick Littlemore (of my beloved Pnau and Empire of The Sun) chip in.
