Peter Gabriel - Scratch My Back

Peter Gabriel returns after 7 years with a new album, and it is a covers' LP. Production is by Bob Ezrin who has given the songs an orchestral environment, meaning a lot of strings. So, Peter Gabriel with The London Scratch Orchestra and The Christ Church Cathedral of Oxford, you get the idea. The outcome is a very accademic view on Bowie, Paul Simon, Elbow, Bon Iver, Talking Heads, Lou Reed, Arcade Fire, The Magnetic Fields, Randy Newman, Regina Spector, Neil Young, Radiohead.

I do not get the album. Ok, the songs are good anyway, but why should Peter Gabriel be so academic with them? It's like a disney soundtrack. And there are already disney soundtracks out there. And all the songs seem so the same.I To be fair, I guess Gabriel wanted this album to be an art-rock experiment. Point taken, but still,
Peter Gabriel.

Fingers crossed for sth different in "I'll Scratch Yours", the LP we are expecting later this year, with the covered bands covering a Peter Gabriel song.

Listen to the album here.
