Rattus Rattus (Urban Nerds) interview

May 20th, Rattus Rattus will bring bass hell to you, bass loving dogs, @ K44, with Premrock.

Hello Paul. How is it in London? It’s raining today in Athens even it’s May.
It's surprisingly sunny in London so I'm making the most of it by spending every moment i can working from outdoors. Which as a dj is not always that easy!

Who are behind Urban Nerds?
Urban Nerds is run by a bunch of like-minded people from North London who were keen to start a night showcasing the best of British talent across a host of different Urban genres.

How did this year’s Snowbombing festival appearance of yours go?
Snowbombing is always sensational I played in Arena with David Rodigan, Toddla T, Plastician, Serocee and of course Klose One so it was a really great bass filled party.

What are your most memorable-fun parties so far? Best guest?
Urban Nerds wise having David Rodigan play at an intimate venue to 300 people which was definitely a very memorable experience. Myself i enjoy everywhere i play but i think festivals always stand out playing Glastonbury last year was definitely a career highlight.

What do you think the Urban Nerds have given to the London club scene? Fresh air?
They definitely offered a platform which wasn't there before in terms of showcasing Grime MC's next to Electro dj's next to pop artists and so on. There wasn't really anything like that before in London all under one roof.

Artists like Katy B. had their first shows at your parties. How do you feel about that?
The guys at Urban Nerds are always keen to promote new artists and they have helped to break a number of acts. Its great to be involved in something like that.

What new artists are going to explode big in the near future?
I'm currently really feeling Mista Men, Rudimental and of course Dillon Francis. I think theres a whole host of exciting people emerging from the bass scene at the moment its an exciting time for dance music.

Some official Urban Nerds releases or new t-shirts on the way out?
Urban Nerds are currently working on some quite special collaboration clothing projects so watch this space. I'm also working hard on my own production so something will be on the release cards very soon.

What is Summer 2011 bringing for Rattus Rattus and Urban Nerds?

I'm currently busy doing a lot of festivals with Urban Nerds and on my own as an artist, which is always a great way to spend the summer. However to be honest i'm more enjoying my time in the studio producing than anything else. That is when its not too sunny outside! :)
